The commercial of the new fresh collection campaign is creative and impressed. And it is kind of humors and makes people laugh. This kind of bold commercial can leave consumers with a deep impression. This is a good way to promote a new product; easily draw consumers’ attentions.
April 9, 2010. Old Spice has teamed up with some independent developers to create video games based on the new Fresh Collection of scents. I like this idea a lot. This kind of interactive promotion can gain more preferences from the consumers and make the consumers feel cool and fun.
Here is the detailed information about the promotion:

Old Spice: New Fresh Collection Campaign
I am impressed by the old spice commercial. I feel that old spice is a creative and cool brand. I searched on the internet and I found some background information. In early 2008, the original Old Spice scent was repackaged as "Classic Scent," both in the after shave and cologne versions. The traditional white glass bottles gave way to plastic, grey stoppers to red. And Old Spice Classic shower gel is sold using the slogan "The original. If your grandfather hadn't worn it, you wouldn't exist." However, in March 2010, Old Spice launches new fresh collection which is called a line of scents inspired by the freshest places on earth. This new fresh collection is supposed to be the focus of 2010.

In campaign of new fresh collection, one thing impress me a lot is that in order to Celebrate the Availability of the Fresh Collection, Old Spice Wants to Send Two Guys to Matterhorn and Fiji, for the Fresh Adventure Internship of a Lifetime.
On MARCH 15, 2010– Old Spice (NYSE: PG) announced the launch of the Fresh Collection, a line of antiperspirant/deodorants that gives guys the chance to smell like some of the freshest places on earth. Designed by the scent experts at Procter & Gamble, Fresh Collection combines the great protection guys have come to know and expect from Old Spice, with a blend of fresh fragrances that are subtle and not overpowering. Fresh Collection is inspired by four well-known lands from across the globe, each one containing scent notes familiar to that location:
– Fiji: Smells like palm trees, sunshine and freedom
– Matterhorn: Smells like ice, wind and freedom
– Cyprus: Smells like limes, an ocean breeze and freedom
– Denali: Smells like wilderness, open air and freedom
I think this is a really innovative way to connect different smells with different regions, which approach the emotional appeals of consumers. It is like when you smell the fragrant, you will feel imaginable, feel cool.
In this campaign, the company aims at changing consumers’ perception of Old Spice. “The Fresh Collection will change the way a lot of people think about Old Spice,” said James Moorhead, Old Spice Deodorant Brand Manager. “The scents are clean and fresh and are specifically designed for guys who want to avoid scents that are too strong or too musky.”
I think the Old Spice Fresh Adventure Internship is the most interesting part of the campaign. To celebrate the Fresh Collection launch, Old Spice is seeking two qualified candidates for internship positions to explore where freshness smells from, embarking on a unique journey enabling them to live and breathe all of the experiences that Fiji and Matterhorn have to offer.
In May, two candidates will be hired to participate in the Old Spice Fresh Adventure Internship. As part of their job requirement, the interns will be reporting on their scent-inspired adventures via social media channels and a special blog on www.OldSpice.com. Prior to traveling, each intern will be outfitted with $5,000 and an itinerary of “jobs” to complete and document while on location such as:
Don traditional Swiss lederhosen and tear up the mountain while snowboarding some of the world’s best snow. Attach 10 Velcro-padded sticks of Old Spice Matterhorn to the Lederhosen suspenders and hand out to 5 other skiers and snowboarders on the mountain – while yelling out “You smell like Matterhorn!!” – at the same time. Use your helmet cam (provided by Old Spice) to capture video of you in action – and reaction shots.
Forget the roulette wheel and fancy cars…but don’t forget the threads. Don a tuxedo and head up to Klein Mountain and snowboard/ski till you fly by Plateau Rosa…Italy. Capture the multi-country adventure taping proof that you were in two different countries on the same day.
Weave a hat from palm fronds, incorporating a stick of Old Spice Fiji as part of the design. Hit the waves and keep the hat on…in fact, go ahead and wear the hat the rest of your trip (mandatory – videotape proof).
Participate in the Aqua-Trek Shark Encounter (with a certified guide), take a photo of the largest shark that makes you sweat and make sure your water-proof Old Spice Fiji is in the shot.
“The Old Spice Fresh Collection reflects a sense of adventure that is synonymous with the Old Spice brand,” said Moorhead. “The internship is a once in a lifetime opportunity for someone to get real hands-on experience in various fields such as oceanography – surfing in Fiji, and geography – snowboarding from Switzerland to Italy in the same day.”
To help better prepare the interns for their adventure, Old Spice is teaming up with two world-class athletes: professional snowboarder Gretchen Bleiler and professional surfer Anastasia Ashley, who are coming on-board as internship mentors.
Applicants for the Old Spice Fresh Adventure Internship contest can enter, find complete rules and learn more about the unique activities by visiting www.OldSpiceAdventure.com beginning March 15, 2010. Winners will be announced in May 2010, and the internships will take place in June 2010.

About Dove "Real Beauty" Campaign(Final)
With the information and marketing campaign of Dove’s “Real Beauty Backlash”, a “Real Beauty” campaign has been launched with a good of changing consumers’ perception of “beauty products”. This program investigates consumer reactions against the idealized images of beauty promoted by TV, movies, and glossy magazines, while exploring the complex relationship between corporate strategy and feminine self-esteem. Dove has positioned itself as a champion for women, which means that Dove encourages women to be confident to be who they are and stresses that real beauty blossoms with age.
In the campaign, Dove argues that the standard of beauty today, at least as many women perceive this standard via the mass media in general and advertising in particular, is unnatural, unhealthy, and unrealistic. However, in an era of transparency and social media, we have to make sure the brand position we stake out is honest and real. Dove can't say "we support real women" and "aging is beautiful" and then get caught retouching the photos.
Dove uses research, consumer surveys to support their “real beauty” campaign. For example, a survey conducted by Dove revealed that out of 3,000 women in ten different countries, only 2% described themselves as beautiful. Based on the research, Dove knows what their consumers needs and wants. In the campaign they emphasizes that their consumers are eager to be confident, to be special, and to have positive self-esteem. They speak loudly for the consumers in order to gain their preference.
The Dove campaign demonstrates the need and requirement that a brand's position is not only for making money, but for moving social change. Why is it that Dove campaign serves as an advocate for women? Because they are transparent and socialy responsible, they are interactive with the consumers, communicate with the consumers, consider the feedback of consumers. Consumers are very sensitive to a brand's genuineness these days, which makes "walking the walk"--not just in marketing but throughout the organization--more important than ever.

Benefit ‘s Posietint—Poppy-pink tinted lip & check stain(Final)
Posietint is a pink lip & cheek stain; it is one of Benefit's "must buy"items; It's perfect for those who don't want a cherry or rose stain. I really like the color, because it makes me look sweet, but not overpowering.

This product is different from the traditional check blush. It is liquid, and you can apply it to your checks quickly and easily with a little brush. You don’t need to add another layer of powder or makeup on top of it. With posietint, you wear less, but you're still given the color you are looking for.
You can put it on your lips too. I tried it, and found that it looks really pinky at first, but if you blot your lips for ten seconds, the lip color looks more natural and stays the whole day. Alternately, you can apply your lip gloss, balm or even lipstick over it, for longer-lasting colour.
One thing I would like to remind you is that since it is a stain, you need to apply one side at a time and quickly, before it dries. Stairs are long-lasting, so you won't have to worry about looking washed out to reapply your blush several times throughout the day.

Critical essay of War Made Easy(Final Edit)
War from Vietnam to Iraq, both democratic and republican promotes their agendas by familiarizing viewers with the techniques of war propaganda. “War Made Easy” encourages viewers to think critically about the messages which are designed to promote and prolong a policy of militarism under the guise of the "war on terror "put out by today's spin doctors.
As George W. Bush Junior said, the America government considers war a product and then promotes it through the media; It’s hiring the journalists and military experts to stall negative publicity by publicizing a favorable interpretation of the reasons of the war in order to make the war become reasonable and gain the support from the American people. It is also an effective way for the American government to claim that they are democratic and responsible for the American people. I think the American government is not only promoting the “product” itself, but also the American policy.
The American government tries, through use of propaganda, to embellish the war. “Don’t just think about yourself, Americans can’t be so selfish.” Actually, what the journalists and military experts report to the public is controlled by the American government. All the media companies cooperate to serve the government; Few of them dare to say “no” to the war. After Vietnam War, war reporting appears to have fallen under the monitor of the American military. This is the reason why we only see images of the “nice American military” and, at most, the action of, say, setting fire to a house on television. Many facts of the war are hided by the government, since nobody is willing to promote the negative side of its product to damage the well-being of the public towards the government.
In fact, the American government loves war than any one else. Faced with a growing population who realize the lies being promoted more, the American government claims that they will not “cut it run” but stay the course, because stopping the war will not bring peace, it will bring more war. With the report of almost all the media and spin doctors, this kind of statement will influence the public’s attitude toward war and the make those who are against war get into trouble.
Although the war makes many people suffer a lot, it still benefits the government. Because of the new weapons development involved, war is a good opportunity for the sale and export of weaponry, as well as an excuse to restrict other countries’ development.
How can the American government justify lying to the public over such a long time? Journalists and spin doctors need to realize that what they do for the government is harmful for the whole society, decreases their personal integrity of professionalism, and only encourages more lies from the government. It is only when our media gatekeepers change their attitudes about patriotism and participation in the war effort that people will be able to live peaceful lives.

Something about me!
Sincerely, I am glad to share something about me with all of you. Things I would like to tell you are about my personalities, my interest, and some of my college experiences. However, this is only part of me. Maybe you guys can find out something more interesting about me in the following days.
I am an energetic and optimism person with the curiosity and challenging characteristics. With the outgoing and easygoing personalities, I always establish a good relationship with others. Moreover, I like making new friends and consider friends as part of my life. So, it is pretty nice to become friend with all of you and I believe this is supposed to be part of the wonderful experiences of my exchange life in Hamline.
To be honest, my biggest interest is shopping but not reading books or studying. For me, shopping is not only buying things but also a kind of learning. Actually, I benefit a lot from shopping. For example, when shopping, I will pay a lot of attention to the advertisment and the decorations and design of the mall, which give me the latest fashionable information and sometimes motive my creativity. One thing I am appreciated most is that the decoration in the mall is changing in terms of different festivals or different events, so every time I can enjoy different new things. Shopping is a wonderful channel for me to perceive the current market and brands which are related to my major and someting I learn in the class.
About the college experiences, I used to be the leader of UIC Students Drama Club and UIC Cheering Squad, communicating and cooperating with other school unions to make sure the work is well afoot. I had the experience of recruiting the new members of drama club. I think promoting the club is like selling the product, and the member is seemed to be the consumer. Before the recruitment, I do the questionnaires on UIC campus to find out students' expectation of drama club in order to provide the suitable activities to draw their attention. I learned some communication skills and leading skills in this experience. What's more, last semester I participated in the Cheering Squad performance for charitable donation, which was highly spoken by the sponsors and the audiences.
